Fire breaks out at footwear factory in Bahadurgarh
A fire broke out at a footwear manufacturing factory in Modern Industrial Area (MIA) in Bahadurgarh town here on Sunday, causing losses worth lakhs. Exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The blaze was so intense that a portion of the factory roof collapsed and flames spread to a shed of an adjoining unit. The factory, which manufactures shoes and slippers, was closed on Sunday. No worker was present in the factory when the fire broke out as it was weekly holiday.
The incident occurred in the morning and the fire quickly intensified due to the presence of rubber and flammable chemicals on the factory premises. On getting information, fire tenders rushed the spot and started dousing the blaze.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing explosions from the factory and a large plume of smoke and flames rising high into the sky. A fire official stated that fire engines from Delhi were also called for assistance.
