District Fire Officer Trasem Rana, said, “Around 9.15 am we received information regarding the fire at Vishal Mega Mart and soon after getting the information, one fire tender was rushed to the spot. However, soon after, more fire tenders were pressed into service from Ambala City, Ambala Cantonment, and Naraingarh as the fire was spreading. The fire was in the middle floor of the mart, and due to heavy smoke, the firefighters had a tough time. The fire was completely doused, and there was no casualty or injury in the incident.”

About the cause of fire, the fire officer said the mart was closed and sparking was suspected to be the reason behind the fire. However, the exact reason of fire and loss are yet to be ascertained. The heat and smoke have affected the upper floor as well, however, the fire was effectively controlled from spreading to other areas.
