Firing at Ambala court complex, no one hurt

Panic gripped lawyers and litigants at the district court complex in Ambala City after bullets were fired on Saturday.

As per the information available, Aman Sonkar, who is facing multiple criminal cases, had reached there for a hearing in a case. Meanwhile, members of his rival group opened fire at him. While Aman Sonkar managed to escape unhurt, the shooters managed to flee from the spot.

SHO Ambala City police station Sunil Dutt said, “Aman Sonkar had come to Ambala court for a hearing. Some people who came in a four-wheeler opened fire at him. No one was hurt. He has claimed that he has an old enmity with Aman Bond following which he was targeted. Two empty cartridges were recovered from the spot. A case has been registered.”

Meanwhile, DSP Ambala Rajat Gulia, who also reached the spot, said, “Aman Sonkar has claimed that he has old disputes with his rival Aman Bond. They both belong to Ambala Cantonment. Aman Sonkar has claimed that four to five people, including Aman Bond and his brother, had come to target him. They also have criminal histories. Teams of CIA-1 and CIA-2 and Ambala City police station are working on this case. Efforts are being made to trace the shooters. DSP Ambala Cantonment is also keeping a close watch in the area as both groups belong to Ambala Cantonment.”

Meanwhile, former Bar Association president and Congress leader Rohit Jain said, “Firing in the court complex is a matter of concern. There should be proper frisking at the entry of the court complex and the security should be enhanced.”
