First stubble burning case registered in Yamunanagar village

In Yamunanagar district, the first stubble burning case of this season has been reported from a village of Radaur block.

On the complaints of a patwari, Dharmender, a case was registered against a farmer, Jaswant Singh, of Hartan Majri village of the district under Section 15 of the Environment (Protection) Act 1986 and Sections 223 (a) and 280 of the BNS at Radaur police station. A fine of Rs 5,000 has also been imposed by the Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department on the farmer.

Last year, as many as 33 FIRs had been registered against farmers in Yamunanagar district on charges of stubble burning. According to the Agriculture Department, one case of stubble burning had been reported from Harthan Majri village of the district. They said that it was the first FIR against stubble burning this season.

“A red entry has been marked in the land records of the farmer concerned. Additionally, a fine of Rs 5,000 has been imposed on him,” said Aditya Pratap Dabas, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Yamunanagar district. He said that on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta, a number of teams were keeping a strict vigil on stubble burning.

According to information, a fine of Rs 57,500 was collected from 21 farmers and a red entry had been marked in the land records of 40 farmers last year.
