Fish spills out on highway in Rewari after pickup truck overturns
A pickup truck carrying fish overturned on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway near Bawal town on Wednesday morning. Hundreds of fish were scattered across the road after mishap causing a traffic jam.
The vehicle was en route from Delhi to Neemrana in Rajasthan when the driver reportedly lost control over it near Bawal town around 6 am. The pickup truck first hit the divider and then flipped onto the middle of the road. Boxes containing various species of fish spilled out, with many dying on the spot.
The driver sustained minor injuries and informed the owner before fleeing from the scene. A Dial-112 police patrol team, which was on routine duty nearby, responded promptly and managed to restore traffic movement by diverting vehicles to one side of the highway.
The fish remained scattered across the road for over an hour, after which the owner arrived from Neemrana with his staff to collect it. He confirmed the loss and appreciated the police’s assistance in managing the situation.
The police said there were no human casualties in the mishap. However, the mishap caused significant disruption of traffic movement during the peak morning hours.
