Five arrested for kidnapping Gohana industrialist at gunpoint

With the arrest of five persons, the police claimed to have solved the kidnapping case of an industrialist in Gohana of Sonepat within 48 hours. The industrialist was kidnapped from Gohana-Jind road at gunpoint and the kidnappers had demanded Rs 5 crore extortion.

The police team produced the accused in court on Friday which sent them to judicial custody. Rahul Dev, ACP Gohana, said that the accused have been identified as Aarjoo and Sonu of Riwada village, Gaurav of Butana Kundu, Rampal of Gangana and Praveen Bhainswal Kalan of Gohana area.

The ACP said that an industrialist of Gohana in his complaint to Baroda police station on September 16 night that he had a factory on Gohana-Jind road. Earlier in the day, he was on his way to his factory in his car.

When he was 100m away from his factory, another car hit his vehicle. The driver of the car came out, snatched his mobile phone and took him on gunpoint.

When he tried to oppose him, four more miscreants came there and pushed him on the back seat of his car and one of them drove the car. They tied his eyes and after a half-an-hour drive, the accused shifted him to their car and left his car there.

After some time, they took him to a room in a field and demanded Rs 5 crore, the complainant said. After bargaining, the deal was finalised for Rs 50 lakh, the industrialist added. They also fixed the place for handing over the money on NH-152D. After that, they took away Rs 1 lakh from his car and gave back the car keys and mobile phone, he said.

Following the complaint, the Baroda police registered a case under Sections of kidnapping, extortion and others. The crime unit headed by Inspector Ankit Kumar nabbed the accused from Nooran Kheda near Baroda minor on Thursday evening, the ACP added.

ACP Rahul Dev said during the investigation, the teams looked at CCTV footage to identify the vehicles of the accused. During the search, a silver Santro car appeared suspicious. Meanwhile, it was informed that a similar car was challaned by ASI Satish, incharge, Butana police post. After matching the footage, it was clear that the same car was used in the crime.

After that, a white SUV that was used by the criminals was found, he said. The team matched it with CCTV footage and nabbed five accused, he said.

Bharti Dabas, DCP, Gohana, said that the involvement of at least nine persons has come to the fore. Of them, five have been arrested. Police teams are making efforts to nab the others. She further stated that the challan of the silver car due to the black film played an important role in cracking the case.
