Five arrested for murder of youth

The police have arrested three more persons in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Ayush in Mujesar, Gurugram, on January 6. The total arrests in the case now stands at five.

A police spokesperson said the three accused — Atul (19), Parsuram, and Ashish (24) — have been taken into custody for their involvement in the fatal assault on Ayush. The incident reportedly occurred when Ayush and his friend, Varun, were returning home from work. The accused assaulted the two young men. The quarrel between Varun and the suspects is believed to have triggered the attack.

Two of the accused, Pankaj Singh (36) and Jilajit (20), were arrested on January 8. They work at the same private company as the victim. Ayush, a resident of Sector 23, here, was reportedly involved in a long-standing dispute with the accused.

Meanwhile, regarding a separate case, police have said the body of a 22-year-old man, Deepak, found in Sector 62 on January 8, was not headless as some media outlets had claimed. Yashpal Yadav, spokesperson for the police department, said although the body was in a decomposed state, all parts, including the head, were intact. Deepak, a resident of Ashiyana Society, had been missing since December 17.

The discovery led to protests by residents of Deepak’s colony. They demand arrest of those responsible for his death.
