Five booked for duping jobless youths

In two separate incidents, five persons have been booked for cheating youths on the pretext of being given jobs in Hisar district.

Complainant Devender Singh of Sisar Kharbala village said he worked as medical attendant in Sarvodaya hospital and met one Ram Avtar Sharma, a resident of Delhi, three months ago.

Sharma assured him that he would arrange a job in Ram Manohar Lohia hospital and demanded Rs 5 lakh in return. The complainant transferred Rs 2 lakh in three instalments through online transaction. But after that, Sharma did not respond to his calls. Sharma has been booked under sections 420 and 406 of the IPC.

In another case, a fraud case was registered against three persons, Praveen Garg, Ashwani Manera and Pawan Kumar, and one unidentified person on the complaint of Ram Mehar, a resident of Mohana village in Jind.

Mehar said his son Pradeep and his friend Harpal had applied for a constable’s job in the Haryana Police and Pawan introduced him to Praveen, who claimed that he had political links. He would ensure job to the complainant’s son for Rs 12 lakh.

The complainant said they gave Rs 6 lakh each to Praveen on December 28, 2018. They promised to give the second instalment after the list is released by the government. However, when their names were not on the list, he approached Praveenand sought the money back. But Praveen refused to return the money and also threatened them. — TNS
