The police arrested five individuals, seizing illegal weapons, while they were allegedly plotting a robbery near the Adani Society in Sector 63A, here, last night. The authorities seized one country-made pistol with a cartridge, an iron rod, a torch and a stick from the suspects’ possession.
According to the police, the arrests followed a tip-off, prompting a raid by the Sohna crime unit near the society. The police said the five accused were apprehended at the scene while in the process of planning the robbery.
Police officials said the arrested individuals have been identified as Shiv Kumar, a resident of Noni village in Agra, Uttar Pradesh; Aman, from Tanka Bhadoda village in Alwar, Rajasthan; Vishnu alias Billi, a resident of Ghamroj village; Ishub and Shokeen alias Dhanni, both from the IIT Colony in Sohna, Gurugram. They said an FIR has been registered against the accused under the BNS and the Arms Act at the Sector 65 police station.
A police spokesperson revealed the criminal records of the accused show a history of criminal activities. He said Shiv Kumar has six theft-related cases registered against him in Gurugram; Aman has six theft and Arms Act cases; Isub has one case against him; Vishnu has four cases of theft; and Shokeen alias Dhanni has five cases, including charges of murder, arms violations, snatching and theft.
Interrogation of the accused is ongoing, the police added.
