Though the Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS) authorities claim to have made adequate arrangements to deal with the probable third Covid wave that may infect kids, it has not established the department of paediatrics pulmonology and intensive care even after five months when its executive council approved a proposal in this respect.
Total nine posts from senior resident to senior professor have been created to run the department, but none has been filled so far.
Dr Rohtash Yadav, director, PGIMS, said the minimum qualification for the post was fixed before the appointment, hence a case had been sent to the Department of Medical Education and Research (DMER) for the same. “We will appoint the faculty immediately after the finalisation of the qualifications. Moreover, a 64-bed paediatrics Covid ICU is also being set up in the PGIMS and another proposal for the creation of several others post has also been sent to the DMER to ensure adequate number of child specialists at the PGIMS,” Dr Yadav added.
A higher officer at the DMER said the case was under process. “The post qualifications will be finalised soon.”
