Flights from Ambala Cantt airport to begin this month
Ambala, July 31
Haryana Civil Aviation and Health Minister Dr Kamal Gupta today inspected the under-construction Civil Enclave (domestic airport) and directed officials concerned to expedite the work.
The minister said the government had planned to start flights from the airport this month. The first flight will be for Ayodhya.
During the visit, Gupta inquired about the status of the project from the PWD (B&R) and other agencies concerned.
He was accompanied by former Haryana Home Minister and Ambala Cantonment MLA Anil Vij, who had worked on getting land for the project from the Ministry of Defence.
“Officials have been asked to work with better coordination and through the day. Directions have been issued to rope in more labour to complete the pending works related to power, water supply, road and sewerage within 10 days. I will visit the site again on August 10,” Gupta added.
On being asked whether flights will start from August 15, Gupta said, “There can be a delay of five-seven days, but the operations will begin in August.” Vij said, “The Civil Enclave is an important project for Ambala Cantonment. Airports play a key role in the development of any area by creating new job opportunities.” — TNS
