Floral tribute to Swami Vivekanand

Rohtak: Swami Vivekanand Jayanti and National Youth Day was observed in Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU). People offered floral tribute at Swami Vivekanand’s statute and books authored by Vivekanand were displayed in the library. Vice-Chancellor Rajbir Singh, librarian Satish Malik, head of library and information science department NN Swain, and director of public relations Sunit Mukherjee paid floral tribute. The V-C exhorted the students to take inspiration from life, vision, ideology and contributions of Swami Vivekanand. He urged them to contribute towards socio-economic development of society and nation building. He said ‘positivity’ was the need of the hour in every walk of life. Vivekanand, an inspirational icon, should inspire us all to be positive.

Faculty development programmes

Sonepat: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) will organise 500 faculty development programmes during this year to upgrade quality in research works. This was stated by Member Secretary of the AICTE Rajiv Kapoor, who was the chief guest during the closing ceremony of the two-week faculty development programme being held at DCR University of Science and Technology, Murthal in Sonepat. The subject of the programme was ‘Multi Criteria Decision Making: Method and Application’. Vice-Chancellor Rajindrakumar Anayath said such programmes would scientifically help in taking decisions timely. As many as 80 members of the teaching community from different universities of Delhi and Haryana participated in the programme.

KU CELEBRATES 63RD FOUNDATION DAY

Kurukshetra: Staff members of Kurukshetra University celebrated 63rd foundation day in Crush Hall of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita Sadan. Vice-Chancellor Kailash Chandra Sharma, Dean (Academic Affairs) Manjula Chaudhary, Registrar Neeta Khanna, teachers, officers, staff and students participated in the event. The programme was attended by the deans, directors, deputy directors, teachers, students and employees. Professor Harisingh (retd), Prof SK Dhawan, Prof NK Mata and Prof Hawa Singh were also present. Vice-Chancellor Kailash Chandra Sharma said the foundation stone of the university was laid by Dr Rajendra Prasad, first President of India, on January 11, 1957. The university is a leading university today. The successful journey of the university so far has been made possible with dogged efforts of all its staff members.

DAV college pays homage to founder

Yamunanagar: A havan was performed at the DAV College for Girls on the occasion of birth anniversary of the late JN Kapur, founder of DAV institutions, Yamunanagar. Swaran Mahendru, president of Arya Samaj, Austin (USA), and members of DAV college managing committee, New Delhi, said the DAV College for Girls was started with four students in a rented building by the late JN Kapur. She said at the time of construction of new college building, she used to accompany her aunt Budhwanti Devi with a ‘laltain’ to help her supervise the work. She helped her father JN Kapur during his visits to the USA for raising funds from NRIs to establish DAV Dental College as well as DAV institute of physiotherapy, Yamunanagar. Son of the late JN Kapur Vijay Kapur also paid tributes.

Interactive session at IMSAR

Rohtak: Professor Pawan Budhwar, Aston Business School, Aston University, Birmingham (UK), said a teacher must remain a life-long learner with new horizons in mind. In an interactive session at the Institute of Management Studies & Research (IMSAR) of Maharshi Dayanand University, an alumnus and former teacher threw light on his career journey in management education and global management education sector. The professor shared the practices practiced in abroad in management education. He also answered queries and questions of faculty members pertaining to various facets of quality management education. Director, IMSAR & Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Raj Kumar welcomed Professor Budhwar. President, Institute of Management Studies & Research, Alumni Association, Professor VK Kaushik, several alumnis, and faculty members were present on the occasion.
