Cyclothon 2.0, an initiative of the state government to spread awareness against drugs, entered Sirsa from the Ding border on Saturday.

It was welcomed by District Council CEO Dr Subhash Chandra, ASP Uttam Pehal and BJP district president Yatindra Singh Advocate.

Many villagers greeted cyclists with flowers on their arrival. The yatra was led by Sub-Inspector Dr Ashok Kumar. It passed through Patli Dabar, Ding Mor, Mojukhera, Jodhkan and Bhavdin villages.

In every village, people joined the cyclothon and promised to stay away from drugs. A special ‘salt-in-pot’ oath was taken by villagers to promote a drug-free life.

The yatra moved through sectors 19 and 20 of Sirsa city, and reached Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium. Over 200 cyclists were part of the journey. Dr Subhash Chandra said the yatra was spreading a good message.

He asked parents to guide their children, and encourage them to play sports, study and stay away from drugs. Pehal said the police were working to curb drug use. The ASP exhorted residents to inform the police of any suspicious activity, stating that the identity of those providing the information would not be revealed.
