Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today directed Deputy Commissioners to focus on a micro-irrigation system to ensure that water reached every field.
The Chief Minister was presiding over a review meeting held here regarding micro-irrigation and the Parivar Pehchan Patra scheme with Deputy Commissioners and said the state government aimed to provide water to every field in the state.
He said the government was providing an 85 percent subsidy for setting up micro-irrigation systems so that more farmers got motivated to adopt the system.
He said: “At places where irrigation is done with canal water, more number of farmers should be motivated to adopt a micro-irrigation system so that areas facing water scarcity are not at a disadvantage.”
The Chief Minister also took detailed information from all Deputy Commissioners regarding the micro-irrigation project and directed them to lay special focus on eight districts of south Haryana, namely Bhiwani, Rewari, Charkhi Dadri, Hisar, Sirsa, Mahendragarh, Nuh and Palwal for promoting micro-irrigation.
Meanwhile, of these eight districts, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh and Rewari were directed to ensure the implementation of the scheme in a more focused manner.
The Chief Minister said: “As there was severe water problem in the districts adjoining Rajasthan, therefore, more focus should be given to speed up the installation of micro-irrigation system in these districts, along with ensuring appointment of adequate staff in the Irrigation Department.”
The Chief Minister also took feedback from the Deputy Commissioners on various points of the Parivar Pehchan Patra scheme and asked them to expedite the survey work.
