Focus on segregation, Hisar gets new garbage collection system
Two agencies assigned the task of collection of waste from homes, shops and establishments for the next five years
The Municipal Corporation of Hisar (MCH) today launched a new door-to-door garbage collection system in the city.
Two agencies — Karni Corporation and V VICE Labs Private Limited — have been assigned the task of collection of waste from homes, shops and establishments for the next five years.
The service was inaugurated by Cabinet Minister Ranbir Gangwa, Mayor Praveen Popli and Commissioner Neeraj, who flagged off the garbage collection vehicles.
Speaking on the occasion, Gangwa said the initiative is a significant and effective step towards a cleaner town. He explained that the town has been divided into two zones and the responsibility for the door-to-door garbage collection has been assigned to the two agencies. They have a combined fleet of 149 vehicles to collect garbage from across the town and transport it to processing sites.
Gangwa expressed confidence that this would give a fresh momentum to the town’s sanitation system, besides helping improve its Swachh ranking.
Mayor Praveen Popli stated that the corporation’s goal is to provide more effective and convenient services to residents. To achieve this, the town has been divided into two zones, with Karni Corporation handling Wards 1 to 10 and V VICE Labs responsible for garbage collection in Wards 11 to 20.
Popli emphesised that V VICE Labs is using electric vehicles, which are environmentally friendly, calling it an innovative step from the ecological perspective.
He added that the corporation is planning to launch a mobile app that will allow residents to track the collection vehicles in real time, see estimated arrival time and monitor the vehicle speed, enhancing both transparency and user experience.
The mayor urged residents to use separate dustbins for wet and dry waste.
Commissioner Neeraj stated that all 75 vehicles of V VICE Labs are electric, while Karni Corporation has 18 electric vehicles in its fleet. The commissioner emphasised that the objective of the corporation is to create awareness about waste segregation.
Municipal officers, CSIs, ASIs and HSIs have been assigned duties to monitor operations and educate residents on proper waste segregation. He added that soon a login-based system will be available via the app for the mayor, councillors and officials to track the location and speed of door-to-door collection vehicles real time.
