Focused on Saraswati river rejuvenation: Government
The three-day international conference on “Saraswati River - The Cradle of Sanatan Civilisation and Culture - Vision and Horizon for Viksit Bharat 2047” concluded at Kurukshetra University on Saturday.
On the occasion, Chief Minister’s OSD Bharat Bhushan Bharti said the government was fully focused on the rejuvenation of the historical sacred Saraswati river. Scientists have given many important suggestions in the conference and all these will be worked upon by the state government.
The conference was organised as part of International Saraswati Mahotsav in Kurukshetra.
He said research work and development work done in the past 10 years on the Saraswati was discussed in detail at the conference. During discussions, it was suggested to connect Sanskrit language with Saraswati research and study work. On this suggestion, Maharishi Valmiki Sanskrit University of Kaithal will now be connected with research and other study work.
Bharti said, “Experts from India and abroad have accepted that the history of Saraswati river is about three crore years old. Evidence for this has also come to light. Now, on the suggestion of scientists, work will be done on the plans to make the Saraswati flow on earth again. The work of excavation and mapping has been completed in 10 years. The culture and civilisation of India is considered to be Saraswati Sindhu civilisation. Vedas and Puranas were composed on the banks of this river.”
He said the river was also proving to be a boon to farmers in times of floods. This river carries more water from other rivers in rainy season and in summers, farmers are getting water from this river.
Conference Director and Director, Centre of Excellence for Research on the Saraswati River, Prof AR Chaudhri said during the conference, Dr Tejas Mojidra presented an important paper on Saraswati Civilization and Vedic Vastu City Planning.
His research demonstrates how urban planning patterns used by this ancient civilisation align closely with traditional Vedic principles. His findings suggest that advanced knowledge of town planning, orientation, zoning and environmental harmony, as prescribed in Vedic texts, was consciously implemented by the Saraswati Civilisation, predating many modern urban development concepts.
During his presentation, Dr Mojidra urged the government to officially recognise and name this ancient culture as the “Saraswati Civilisation” to honor its cultural and historical significance. He emphasised that this recognition would pave the way for greater awareness of India’s ancient architectural wisdom.
