THE fodder market on Hisar Road in Ambala city is in a shambles. The perpetual movement of vehicles for transporting fodder has resulted in potholes inside the market. Also, the Marketing Department, which is responsible for providing safe platform shade along with refreshments and water outlets, is minting money. A specific amount is envisaged for such expenses. However, no such faculties are available except a tea stall. The tubewell installed is adding to the miseries of visitors because of continuous leakage. The reason for such lapses, it seems, is the lack of monitoring and visits by senior officials. We hope that the matter will be taken up seriously and things are set right before the rainy season sets in.

IN wake of the tragic fire incident in an illegal paying guest (PG) accommodation in Chandigarh, the Panchkula authorities should learn a lesson and conduct a survey to find out how many such places are operating here. They should also ensure whether the structure is suitable for renting out as a PG and has proper fire safety measures. Vidya Sagar Garg, Panchkula

Choked sewers turn Hisar residents’ bane

RESIDENTS of Sector 33 in Hisar have been facing a lot of inconvenience due to choked sewers and storm drain in the locality. Storm drain, which passes through the locality, has turned out to be a bane as it has made the lives of people residing nearby a hell due to foul smell coming from it. We have taken up the matter with the authorities concerned several times. Besides, the streetlights too are not functional properly at many spots. We hope that the officials concerned will listen to our problems and take steps to sort them out. Rajpal Nain, Hisar
