Foetus found near vegetable market in Karnal

Post-mortem examination to be conducted on Saturday

A five-month-old human foetus was found abandoned near the new vegetable market in the city on Friday morning. The police sent the foetus to Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College (KCGMC) for a post-mortem examination. Officials said that the sex of the foetus would be confirmed following the post-mortem process on Saturday.

“The sex of the foetus will be determined after the postmortem examination. We are tracking the records of registered pregnant women in the area to identify the culprit responsible for this act,” said Dr Sheenu Chaudhary, Deputy Civil Surgeon (PCPNDT).

Sulinder Singh, the in-charge of the Sector 4 police post, said that they received information about the foetus by locals and informed them. “A postmortem will be conducted on Saturday. We are investigating the matter thoroughly," he added.
