Yamunanagar, July 30
An inspector of the District Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Yamunanagar, was suspended allegedly in connection with a case of watering wheat bags of the department in Jagadhri.
According to the information, the authorities of the CM Flying Squad had received a tip-off that stacks of wheat belonging to the Food and Supplies Department were lying in a shed in the new grain market in Jagadhri.
The authorities also received the information that some employees of the department were taking out wheat from the bags with the help of ‘parkhi’ and later sprinkled water on the bags to increase its weight.
The flying squad had raided the site on June 11, where some employees of the department were allegedly found watering wheat bags.
The men tried to flee, but were caught. The apprehended employees were working as outsourced employees with the department.
They told the police that an Inspector of the Food and Supply Department and a chowkidar had employed them for taking out wheat from the bags and sprinkle water on them.
An FIR was registered under Section 420, 120B of the IPC and Sections 7, 10, 55 of the Essential Commodities Act at Sector 17 police station, Jagadhri, on June 12.
“We had received the suspension order of an inspector from the higher authorities a few days back,” said Kushal Pal Boora, District Food and Supplies Controller, Yamunanagar.
