The Darpur Block incharge Anuj Kumar Rawal said they received a tip-off that Majid and Shamshad had cut four trees of khair wood illegally from the forest area of Chikan village on July 4. He said they also received information that they would soon sell this wood and were loading it onto a vehicle. Acting on the tips-off, police set up a barricade near Tibbi Bakkarwala village on Saturday afternoon.

“A car loaded with khair wood approached the naka on being asked to stop, the driver came out and pushed the police officials and managed to flee along with his vehicle. The car was being driven by Taj Mohammad and Majid was sitting next to him,” said Rawal. He said later the car loaded was recovered from Chikan village.
