Former BJP Jhajjar chief resigns, calls meeting of supporters to decide next course of action

The BJP has suffered another setback in Jhajjar in Haryana with its former district chief Vikram Kadyan resigning from primary membership of the party. He has also called a meeting of his supporters in Beri town here on Sunday to decide the next course of action regarding assembly election.

Vikram was frontrunner for the BJP ticket from Beri but the party fielded Sanjay Kablana three days after the latter joined the party. Sanjay had unsuccessfully contested previous two assembly polls in 2014 and 2019 from neighbouring Badli assembly constituency but he succeeded to make his presence felt by securing a considerable number of votes both the times.

Vikram too had tried his fortune from Beri as the BJP nominee in both previous elections but could not make it. He announced his move of resigning from the party by posting a video message on social media on Saturday night.

“Last 11 days have been painful not only for me but also for all loyal and dedicated workers of the BJP as the party has fielded an outsider in Beri constituency that used to decide the direction of state politics. I was so upset by the decision that I have not attended any political programme during the time span,” said Vikram in his message.

The BJP leader maintained that the prevailing circumstances had forced him to take such a tough and important decision of resigning from all organisational responsibilities and primary membership of the party.

“What will be my role in the assembly election and what will be our next strategy, it will be decided after discussions with my friends who supported me during the time of struggle. A meeting in this respect has been called in Beri today,” Vikram added.

Before Vikram, the BJP’s Kisan Morcha leader Amit Dighal also quit the party and jumped into the fray as an independent candidate. Amit too was among the ticket aspirants from Beri.
