Former BJP OBC Cell president Karandev Kamboj joins hands with Cong candidate in Indri
In a jolt to the ruling BJP, its former OBC Cell state president Karandev Kamboj has extended support to Congress candidate from Indri seat Rakesh Kamboj.
Karandev recently resigned from his post but has not quit the party. He has made his intentions clear, declaring that he will actively work to defeat BJP candidates in both Indri and Radaur Assembly constituencies.
The BJP has fielded MLA Ram Kumar Kashyap from Indri and ex-MLA Shyam Singh Rana from Radaur.
“Rakesh Kamboj came to me to for my support. I will support him and ensure the defeat of BJP candidates from Indri and Radaur. My focus is now on supporting Rakesh and ensuring that the Congress emerges victorious on both seats,” said Karandev.
Karandev is among the leaders who openly raised voice against the ticket distribution. He resigned from his post soon after the release of the first list as the party fielded former MLA Shyam Singh Rana from Radaur seat, who had quit the BJP in 2019 and joined it some days ago after spending almost five years in the INLD. Karandev had accused the party of giving ticket to a ‘traitor’ and demanded that the government should change its decision. CM Nayab Singh Saini visited the residence of Karandev to pacify him, but to no avail. Later, Karandev was called to Delhi, where he again raised the issue.
Meanwhile, former Mayor Renu Bala Gupta, who was annoyed over the denial of ticket, has decided not to contest the election from Karnal seat. She has announced to extend support to party candidate Jagmohan Anand. She has also assured the party leadership that she would campaign for all candidates as and when the party asks. “I am a soldier of the BJP and will remain in the party,” she said. It is learnt that CM Nayab Singh Saini and former CM Manohar Lal Khattar met her at her residence.
From Pundri seat, Independent MLA Randhir Gollen has filed nomination papers. He is a prominent face of the Ror community which has a sizeable number of people in this segment. He was elected in 2019 from this seat with a margin of 12,824 votes.
