Chandigarh, May 13

Former Chief Secretary Vishnu Bhagwan passed away today. He was suffering from Covid for the past few days and undergoing treatment at Max Hospital, Gurugram.

He was around 80-year-old. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, along with other senior officers, including Chief Secretary Vijai Vardhan, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister DS Dhesi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister V Umashankar and Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Amit Agrawal expressed their condolences.

In addition to the post of Chief Secretary, Vishnu Bhagwan held important positions in Excise and Taxation Department, Department of Irrigation, as well as Human Resource Development, Public Relations, Social Justice and Empowerment, Electricity and Animal Husbandry Departments. He served as Managing Director, Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited, Deputy Commissioner, Sonepat, Chairman, Haryana Public Enterprises Bureau, and Vice-Chancellor, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar.

Vishnu Bhagwan was born on December 7, 1940. He was a 1965-batch IAS officer. He took charge on July 5, 1965 and retired from the post of Chief Secretary, Government of Haryana, on December 31, 2000. He was currently living in Delhi with his family.
