Former principal of Rohtak pharmacy college held in suicide case
The local police have arrested a retired principal of College of Pharmacy at Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), Rohtak, in connection with a suicide case of college principal Dr Rakesh Kumar Goyal.
Inspector Mahesh Kumar, the Station House officer of the IMT police station said Dr Gajendra was the third person who had been arrested in the case. Earlier, two others, including a college faculty and an office-bearer were arrested. Dr Gajendra was produced before a court which sent him to judicial custody, he added.
“Dr Gajendra was among those persons who were named in the suicide note by Dr Rakesh Kumar Goyal for forcing him to take the extreme step. The investigation is still underway into the matter,” he maintained.
Sources said in his suicide note, Dr Goyal alleged that his predecessor and an assistant professor at the college were trying to implicate him on false charges. Notably, Dr Goyal went missing from his home under mysterious circumstances. On August 29 last year, his scooter and slippers were found near the Jawaharlal Nehru canal.
It was feared that he might have committed suicide by jumping into the canal, after which the IMT police and the NDRF team had conducted a joint search operation together, but failed to recover the body.
Next day, another search operation was carried out, after which the body was recovered from the canal near Baland village. Later, the police recovered a suicide note, which led to the registration of the case.
