Madaan said, “To improve quality healthcare facilities and reduce deaths among mothers and newborns, concrete steps are being taken under the National Health Mission. The 100-bed MCH wing will play an important role in providing better facilities for mothers and children, who will no longer need to be referred elsewhere as all advanced health services will be available under one roof.”

Deputy Commissioner Sarwan added that the MCH wing would be an eight-storey building (basement, ground floor and six storeys), with five lifts. “The Civil Hospital is currently 200-bedded. With the new MCH wing, the capacity will increase to 300 beds,” he said.

Facilities at the wing will include advanced delivery rooms, a delivery recovery room, gynaecology OPD, paediatric OPD, special neonatal care unit (SNCU), neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), newborn stabilisation unit (NBSU), kangaroo mother care unit, obstetric ICU, advanced diagnostic labs, and three operation theatres.
