Four arrested in cyber-fraud case

A special team from the Cyber Crime Police Station successfully arrested four youths from Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur region for their involvement in a cyber-fraud case. The fraud involved deceiving Harpreet Singh, a resident of Sukhchain village in Sirsa, with a promise of high profits from stock market trading. The accused made him invest nearly Rs 23 lakh.

Superintendent of Police Vikrant Bhushan provided detailed information about the case. The arrested individuals were identified as Moin Ahmed and Atiq Ahmed from Rasulabad, Kanpur Dehat, Wasim Ansari from Minhajpur, Prayagraj and Hamid Raja from Kareli, Prayagraj. After presenting them in court, the suspects were taken into police custody with a four-day police remand granted for further investigation.

Bhushan revealed that during the remand, investigators would recover the defrauded amount and the mobile phones used in the scam. The fraud was reported after a complaint from Harpreet Singh, who was lured into the scam through Telegram by the accused. He was promised huge returns from stock market trading, leading to a loss of Rs 22,82,239.

The investigation, which began on January 27 following the victim's complaint, resulted in the arrest of four perpetrators from Kanpur. Bhushan assured that the investigation is ongoing, and any individuals found connected to this cyber fraud network will face legal consequences.
