Four arrested in plot to kill Cong MLA Mamman Khan

In a breakthrough, the Gurugram unit of the Special Task Force (STF) has arrested four accused allegedly involved in a plot to assassinate Congress MLA Mamman Khan. The accused are believed to be linked with the Rohit Godara gang, which has ties with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

According to senior STF officials, three of the arrested men are residents of Gurugram, while the fourth hails from Rajasthan. The STF reportedly acted on a tip-off that one of the suspects was in possession of a high-end illegal pistol and “planning something big.”

Police zeroed in on the accused and arrested them along with their associates. During interrogation, the men allegedly confessed that they had been conducting reconnaissance and trailing Khan’s movements and were contracted by Rohit Godara to attack him.

“The gang had been planning to target Khan for some time,” said a senior official. “Their activities were being closely tracked after intelligence inputs were received last month.”

Sources confirmed that the STF had received inputs around September 20 that gang members were tracking Khan, prompting police to shift the MLA from Nuh to Gurugram and increase his security cover.

As a precaution, 16 SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) commandos were deployed for Khan’s protection. Despite the increased security, the MLA has consistently denied receiving any threats.

While the STF has not released an official statement, DSP Preetpal Sangwan remained unavailable for comment despite repeated attempts.

Khan, the MLA from Ferozepur Jhirka, had earlier been booked for making inflammatory statements during the Braj Mandal Yatra violence in Nuh in 2023. He was arrested in connection with the riots but later granted bail.
