Four nabbed on charges of rape, abduction, blackmail
The police have arrested four persons in connection with three incidents of rape, abduction and blackmailing using obscene videos.
A spokesperson for the Police Department said they arrested two persons for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at a village here recently.
He said one of the suspects, who was known to the victim’s husband, sexually assaulted the woman while she was alone at her house around three years ago. It was alleged that the suspect who recorded her obscene video not only repeated the crime, but also took an amount of Rs 1 lakh from her to not make the video viral.
The suspect brought another youth who also sexually assaulted the woman by blackmailing her with the obscene video. The duo again visited her house on December 19 to commit the crime. However, the victim raised an alarm, following which they were nabbed by locals. They were later handed over to the police.
The police arrested them and seized their mobile phones. They have been sent to judicial custody.
In another case, the police arrested a youth for raping a 16-year-old girl after abducting her a few months ago in a village here. The suspect was absconding since the incident took place in August this year.
In yet another case, the police arrested a person for helping some youths in abducting a 16-year-old girl while she was returning home after attending a tuition class. A case under the POCSO Act was registered. He had been sent to judicial custody, said the police official.
