New Delhi, February 10

Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda has flagged the inadequacy of funds in the Interim Budget for the AIIMS at Rewari for which Prime Minister Narendra Modi would lay the foundation stone after a week from now.

Hooda said the AIIMS-Rewari might get Rs 250-Rs 300 crore out of the Rs 6,000 crore earmarked in the Interim Budget for the upcoming AIIMS.

Citing the CAG report for 2020-21, he said if funds were disbursed at that rate, it would take at least a dozen years to get the building ready.

The CAG, according to Hooda, had said the construction cost of a single AIIMs would be around Rs 3,000 crore.

“Announced in 2015, the project has taken nine years to come out of the files,” he said.

Speaking during Special Mentions, the Congress leader also regretted the slow pace of construction of the cardiac centre besides a cancer hospital in Rewari.
