Gang involved in stealing electrical equipment busted, 6 in police net
The police here claimed to have busted a gang allegedly involved in the theft of electrical equipment and wires in the district with the arrest of six persons in the past 24 hours.
Crime Branch in-charge sub-inspector Deepak Gulia said acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the accused from different places. The accused were identified as Gulfam, Gulsher, Shakib, Sameer, Ashu and Sanjay. While four of the accused hail from Kalwaka and Pingor villages of Palwal district, two others belong to Hapur district of UP.
The accused were reportedly found to be involved in 12 incidents related to theft of electrical equipment such as conductors and wires of transmission lines and transformers in various parts of the district and the region.
The sub-inspector said on December 26 last year, the accused stole several tonnes of electrical conductors from a line near Dudhola village in the district, causing a loss of over Rs 48,000 to the power department. After registering a complaint, a probe was launched.
The accused have been sent to on police remand for further investigation, said the police official, adding that more arrests could not be ruled out in this regard. He said the police would try to recover the stolen goods from them. A pick-up vehicle and some tools used in the crime have been recovered from their possession.
