A gang of five men robbed Rs 14 lakh from a Punjab National Bank branch in Bhiwani’s Chang village on Thursday.
The armed robbers who were covering their faces entered the bank waiving pistols and opened fire in the air to create a scare and took away the cash from the bank and some customers.
According to information, five youths riding on two motorcycles arrived at the bank at about 11 am.
One of them stayed outside the bank while others overpowered the guard and entered the premises.
The robbers stayed inside the bank for about 11 minutes and the entire episode was captured in the CCTV.
Bhiwani SP Ganga Ram Punia reached the spot as the police started the investigation.
The SP said the police teams have been dispatched in different directions in search of the robbers.
The police said the bank officials have calculated that a total of Rs 14,19,300 has been taken away from the bank by the robbers.
The police have been scanning the CCTV footage in a bid to identify the accused.
