The CIA cell of the local police has claimed to have dismantled a gang of robbers involved in over 20 looting incidents on the KMP and KGP Expressways in the district.
The police said two of the accused — as Prince and Tushar, both from Sailothi village — were arrested on February 23 following a tip-off. They said the investigation led to the capture of three more suspects — Ajay alias Habshi, Vinay and Pawan — within the next 48 hours. The initial arrests came after a police team raided a location near Chhajjunagar village, where Prince and Tushar were preparing to commit another robbery at gunpoint, as confirmed by Sub Inspector Deepak Gulia, Incharge of
CIA Palwal.
The police seized illegal weapons from the two men and the subsequent arrests were made based on information provided during their interrogation.
The police said the gang had been involved in over 20 robberies on the expressways passing through the district over the past year. The gang members are also linked to six cases of robbery and illegal possession of weapons, which have been registered at various police stations in Faridabad and Palwal districts.
The police said the accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
