Gang of vehicle thieves busted, four cars recovered in Faridabad
Faridabad, January 29
The police have busted a gang of vehicle thieves, arresting four persons and recovering four vehicles from their possession.
ACP (Crime) Aman Yadav said the suspects, identified as Devender (44), Anil (26), Yamin (35) and Abdul Rahman (50), were nabbed by a team of the crime branch and have been sent to judicial custody. He said the breakthrough came after the arrest of Devender on January 20, when the suspect was found with a stolen vehicle as he could not present the valid documents during interrogation.
It is revealed that Devender, who runs an auto workshop in Sector 81 here, told the police that he used to steal vehicles to sell them in an illegal manner with the help of his three accomplices. He also confessed of having stolen over 20 vehicles in around two years.
Abdul, a scrap dealer in Palwal, and Yamin and Anil of Uttar Pradesh were nabbed on the basis of the information provided by Devender during the interrogation. Devender used to sell stolen vehicles after changing their chassis number, it is claimed.
Suspects Devender and Anil have been wanted in five and 14 cases of vehicle thefts, respectively.
The vehicles recovered by the police include three cars and a van.
