Georgia-returned youth taken into brief custody, sample taken

A youth who had recently returned from Georgia was taken to civil hospital by the district health officials with the help of the police here this morning. He was let off later after the collection of the blood sample.
The number of persons put on surveillance for Covid in the district has reached 296. 28 of them have completed the surveillance period of 28 days.
A 52-year-old woman who had returned from Spain recently has been hospitalised after her report from NICD came out positive on Friday. As her final report from NIV Pune is awaited, she is still a “suspected” case.
A spokesperson of the district administration said that the health officials — accompanied by the police — reached the house of the youth in NIT here today after it was found that he had returned from abroad on March 18.
He had not undergone the mandatory medical test. He said that despite protest by his family members, he was taken to the hospital for collection of the sample. He was discharged after routine check-up as no symptoms were found.
The department has collected as many as 10 samples so far. Six have been found negative.
The result of three other samples is awaited. The total number of persons still under surveillance, at present, is 268. They have arrived here from abroad after January 1, it is reported.
