Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Mayor Suman Bahamani on Thursday evening inspected a drain in Kuldeep Nagar, Ward 16, here.

During the inspection, she found garbage and silts in the drain. Taking serious note of this, she directed officials of the MC to get the drain, and other drains of twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri, cleaned as soon as possible.

She also warned the MC officials concerned that action would be taken against those found to be negligent towards cleanliness.

“Solving the problems of the public is my first priority. It is the responsibility of the MC to strengthen the cleanliness and drainage system in every ward. Therefore, no negligence will be tolerated in these works,” said Bahamani.

The Mayor, Ward 16 Municipal Councillor Sandeep Dhiman, Sanitation Inspector Satbir Singh and other officials of the MC took stock of the cleanliness of the drain in Ward 16.

She instructed officials to get the drains of the district cleaned on priority, so that the general public did not have to face any problem due to waterlogging. She addressed grievances of the area residents.

She also appealed to the general public to not throw solid garbage, polythene bags, clothes, bricks, stones and other waste in the drains.

“I appeal to the general public to dispose of garbage in the door-to-door collection vehicles of the MC instead of throwing it in drains and open areas,” she said.
