Ashok Kumar Garg, Commissioner of the Gurugram Municipal Corporation (MCG), has issued a charge-sheet to a clerk in the taxation department, Prashant Kumar, for alleged irregularities in the registration process of property IDs.

The charge stems from a complaint filed by Sanjay Dutt, a Sector 57 resident, who had been seeking a correction to his property ID. The process was delayed by Kumar for over eight months.

The delay was first brought to the attention of the Commissioner’s office during a ‘Samadhan Shivir’.

In the charge-sheet, Commissioner Garg wrote, “This action constitutes negligence in performing your assigned duties. Your conduct has caused hardship and mental agony to the taxpayer, tarnishing the reputation of the Municipal Corporation, Gurugram.”

The charge-sheet noted Kumar’s actions were “unbecoming of a public servant,” and highlighted his failure to adhere to the Haryana Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 2016. The Commissioner said Kumar’s actions could attract disciplinary measures under the Haryana Civil Services Rules, 2016.
