Girls take pledge to conserve water, environment at NSS camp
On the sixth day of the seven-day National Service Scheme (NSS) camp at Maharani Kishori Jat Kanya Mahavidyalaya, students were educated on important topics such as tree plantation, environmental conservation, water conservation, preventing water-borne diseases and the significance of blood donation.
A team of the ‘Suno Naharon Ki Pukar’ Mission, a social outfit working to spread awareness among masses regarding keeping the canal water clean, visited the camp in Mayna village here, where they were welcomed by NSS programme officers- Dr Savita Malik and Dr Sofia.
The team included chief patron Dr Jasmer Singh, patron Deepak Chhara, general secretary Mukesh Nainkwal, and secretary Raktveer Ajay Hooda. Dr Jasmer urged the girl students to conserve water and avoid polluting canals and rivers.
Deepak Chhara, an environmentalist, delivered an impactful message through the song "Laado Suno Ped Lagana," urging the importance of planting trees. He also emphasised the vital roles that trees, clean air and water that played important role in sustaining life.
Health worker and cyclist Mukesh Nainkwal educated the students about water-borne diseases and stressed the importance of taking care of both their health and the health of others. He reminded them that a healthy citizen built a healthy society.
Ajay Hooda highlighted the low participation of girls in charitable activities like blood donation. He encouraged the students to increase their involvement by maintaining a healthy diet.
The session concluded with all girl students taking a pledge to conserve water and ensure that nothing harmful was released into canals and rivers.
