The three-day district-level Gita Mahotsav commenced on Monday in the Karnal and Kaithal districts’ headquarters. Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan inaugurated the programme in Karnal, while Kaithal Deputy Commissioner Preeti started the programme in Kaithal.
While inaugurating the mahotsav held at Dr Mangal Sen Government Auditorium, Karnal, Kalyan emphasised the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, highlighting its message of action. He urged people to work diligently, perform noble deeds, and remain calm even in adverse circumstances.
The event commenced with a yajna and an aarti of the Bhagavad Gita. The Speaker participated in the rituals and inaugurated stalls set up by self-help groups and various government departments.
“Gita Mahotsav is celebrated globally, marking a moment of pride for Haryana and the country,” said Kalyan, highlighting the importance of Lord Krishna’s teachings during the Mahabharata and encouraging people to connect with Krishna’s character and follow his example.
The programme featured mesmerising cultural performances, including Krishna-Sudama dances and songs inspired by Lord Krishna. A Haryana folk dance and a vibrant performance by students further fascinated the audience. Additionally, students presented attractive rangoli designs, showcasing their creativity. Performers were honoured with mementos and certificates of appreciation.
Kaithal DC Preeti described the Bhagavad Gita as a spiritual text, offering solutions to life’s challenges. She said the Gita inspired people to act with honesty and dedication.
The mahotsav began with a yajna. The DC inaugurated an exhibition displaying products by progressive farmers, government scheme beneficiaries, and works by social organisations. She appealed to residents to participate enthusiastically in the festivities and to imbibe the teachings of the Gita.
