Gita Mahotsav mix of culture, knowledge & spirituality: CM

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today said that the International Gita Mahotsav beginning from November 15 would present a blend of culture, knowledge and spirituality.

The 21-day 10th International Gita Mahotsav will conclude on December 5. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the mahotsav on November 25.

Speaking to the media, Saini said, "This year, Madhya Pradesh will participate as the partner state. It will set up a cultural pavilion, showcasing its culture, crafts and cuisine. As many as 25 artisans from seven countries will exhibit their crafts at the festival. Tourists and pilgrims will also get an opportunity to experience Haryana’s cultural heritage,” he said.

Apart from Kurukshetra University, NID, NIT and Ayush University, Kurukshetra, will also organise Gita seminars. On December 1, Deepotsav celebrations will be held at all 182 pilgrimage sites in 48-kos of Kurukshetra.

District-level events will begin from November 28.

Later, the CM held a meeting with social and religious organisations and called upon them to make efforts to make the mahotsav successful.

Inaugurates Cooperative Week

Sonepat: The Chief Minister inaugurated the 72nd State-Level Cooperative Week here on Friday. Addressing a gathering, he said the year was being celebrated as the ‘Year of Cooperatives’, and the event would play a key role in achieving the vision of prosperity through cooperation and self-reliance.

He urged the youth to shed traditional mindset, form cooperatives, and transform them into global brands through Digital India.

He said RuPay Kisan Credit Cards had been issued to over 3 lakh farmers through 19 district Central Cooperative Banks. Additionally, 21 PACS centres had been selected for the construction of warehouses. He said no interest was charged on crop loans for members of primary cooperative societies who repaid on time.

To modernise the system and make the cooperative sector more transparent and competitive, 710 PACS were being computerised, of which 475 had already been converted into e-PACS.

Cooperation Minister Arvind Sharma said the tradition of working together had long existed in villages and communities, and formed the foundation of cooperation.
