Global delegates meet Chief Secy, praise India’s warmth and wisdom
Twenty-seven delegates from 13 countries, attending the 36th International Training Programme in Legislative Drafting, called on Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi here today. The participants, from Côte d'Ivoire, Ecuador, Honduras, Guatemala, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Myanmar, Niger, Nigeria, Maldives, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, are part of a five-day programme organised in collaboration with PRIDE (Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies) of the Lok Sabha.
Chief Secretary Rastogi emphasised the importance of inclusive and consultative law-making. “The contours of any law can only be crafted effectively by listening to the voices of all stakeholders,” he said, adding that legislation must reflect society’s aspirations and needs. Citing the Indian Constitution as a model framework, he called it “a guiding light, with well laid-out processes that ensure laws are both robust and adaptable.”
Highlighting Haryana’s progressive growth, he described it as a small yet dynamic state with high per capita income and tax collection.
Rastogi presented each delegate a copy of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, calling it “a pillar of strength” and describing the Mahabharata as “a story beyond one’s imagination” that teaches the principle of Karma.
Alejandro Nicolas Weisson Nemalceff, Director, Financial Policy and Regulation Body, Ecuador, thanked the Chief Secretary, saying, “The training has not just made us better professionals but also better human beings. The people of India are extremely loving and warm.”
Course Director KN Chaturvedi, former Secretary, Legislative Department, Government of India, gave an overview of the programme. Senior officials, including Principal Secretary D Suresh and Special Secretary Aditya Dahiya were also present.
