Gurugram August 8
The Enforcement Wing of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) successfully conducted a two-day demolition drive, during which illegal structures and encroachments along the green belts and master roads in sectors 61, 62, 66, 67, 69 and 70 were demolished. Over 3.7 km of land was cleared of encroachments.
“We are taking strict measures to clear all encroachments found along master roads and green belts in Gurugram, as per the directions of the GMDA CEO. We have zero tolerance for violators and will conduct repeated checks to ensure that re-encroachment does not occur,” said RS Batth, DTP, GMDA, who led the drive.
Today, officials cleared illegal encroachments made by shopkeepers in front of their shops. Additionally, a large number of shanties, shops and unlicensed street vendors operating along the Right of Way (ROW) and green belts of GMDA, without proper permission from the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG), were removed during the drive.
Over the course of the two-day demolition drive, 48 jhuggis, 14 tea stalls, 25 plant nurseries, three shops, 42 temporary juice and furniture stalls, panwadi shops, fruit and vegetable vendors, seven building material shops and five car workshops were cleared. Additionally, eight illegal accesses created by car showrooms and repair shops on GMDA ROW were blocked by the Enforcement Wing.
Officials from the Urban Planning and Geographic Information System (GIS) divisions of the authority were also present during the drive.
