The road length from NH-48 to Faridabad is 12 kms, while the green belt on either side spans across 80 acres, thereby making total green belt area of 160 acres on the SPR. At present, 80 acres of area is under various types of encroachment which include banjara markets, building material shops, car bazars, nurseries, scrap dealers, street vendors and other illegal structures.

A five-day drive will be carried out by the GMDA this month to remove all unauthorised and illegal structures from the SPR.

“It has been directed by the GMDA CEO that enforcement drives be conducted to clear the encroachments and ensure the master roads and green belts under the authority are free of any illegal structures to plan better development and beautification of the city. We will take strict action against encroachment and also assure that the livelihoods of genuine people is not disturbed. We seek public support to make Gurugram free from encroachments,” said RS Batth, DTP GMDA and nodal officer for encroachments in Gurugram.

Efforts have already been made by the Enforcement Wing of the GMDA wherein several demolition drives were conducted on the SPR and even few remaining permanent structures of Rambir ki Dhani were also demolished in these drives.

Once the encroachment along this stretch is cleared, the GMDA will enforce optimum beautification and maintenance of these green belts by the developers.
