The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), in collaboration with the Gurugram Municipal Corporation (MCG) and the traffic police, took out a major anti-encroachment drive.

GMDA CEO Shyamal Misra had recently chaired a meeting to discuss various issues affecting this pivotal stretch; encroachment emerged as the issue demanding prompt action. MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya was also present in the meeting to ascertain the nature of transgressions.

Subsequently, teams were formed to take the necessary action. Two teams of the GMDA and four teams of the MCG jointly planned the drive to clear the encroachments. The MG Road is considered a major artery of the city with several commercial and group housing societies situated along it. There have been multiple requests, by the residents, for the removal of these transgressions.

Teams of 30 people reached different spots along the road and it was ensured that no illegal cart owner got to rush away. This is a no vending zone. Two major areas were covered — one near the MG Road Metro Station/Heritage City and the other near IFFCO Chowk/Beverly Park 1. Some 40 illegal carts were demolished in the drive today.
