GMDA orders survey of sites with rejected change land use applications

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has initiated a survey to check the illegal use of land in the city, focusing on sites with rejected Change of Land Use (CLU) applications. The enforcement wing of the authority suspects some sites may be misused despite the denial of CLU permissions.

It is important to note the GMDA has the jurisdiction to grant CLU in 42 villages under the provisions of the 1963 Act. Recently, the authority reviewed cases where CLU applications had been rejected, returned or where the Letter of Intent (LOI) had lapsed. Reports indicated, despite rejection, some sites were allegedly proceeding with construction after changing the land’s use.

DTP Enforcement Officer RS Batth has ordered a survey and set up three teams, each led by an Assistant Town Planner (ATP), to investigate these sites. In the first phase, the teams will focus on surveying 135 sites.

“We have received reports that construction is continuing on these sites despite the rejection of CLU or denial of permission. We will conduct raids and surveys and take appropriate action against the offenders,” said Batth.

Batth emphasised all construction on these sites would be considered illegal and penalties would be enforced according to the law. The survey is expected to be completed by

March 10.
