GMDA razes illegal structures along road in Sectors 62, 57
Gurugram, August 29
The Enforcement Wing of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) today conducted a demolition drive on the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR). This was the second drive conducted in the area to clear green belts as it was noticed that many offenders had encroached the land again after the demolition drive that was carried out by the GMDA earlier this month.
In the anti-encroachment drive today, 1.5-km stretch of the SPR along the dividing road of Sectors 62-57 was covered, along with 40 nurseries and 15 jhuggis being cleared from the green belts.
Will conduct such drives regularly
We will keep up the momentum and conduct such drives regular on the SPR and MG roads regularly. We appeal to offenders to clear the land soon or be ready to face strict action. Encroachers are also intimated to not give any money to locals or mafia as all unauthorised structures will be cleared by the authority. — RS Batth, District Town Planner
The drive was conducted according to the directions issued by the Chief Executive Officer, GMDA, and addressed numerous complaints raised by locals. The enforcement wing was led by District Town Planner RS Batth, and present in the drive were Assistant Town Planners Satender and Mangeram, junior engineers Sumit, Ashish Tyagi and the GIS team of GMDA.
“We will keep up the momentum and conduct such regular drives on the SPR and MG roads and appeal to offenders to clear the land soon or else face strict action. Moreover, encroachers are also intimated to not give any money to locals or mafia as all unauthorised structures will be cleared by the authority,” said Batth.
Additionally, the Enforcement Wing of the GMDA also conducted a demolition drive yesterday along the dividing road of Sector 45-52, to act upon the complaints received in the Samadhan Shivir. In the drive, 10 street vendors, bamboo shops, four shops near Labour Chowk and three kiosks near Ardee Mall’s Gate No. 2 were demolished on the basis of Jan- Sawad complaint received in the office of the Gurugram Deputy Commissioner.
Green belts and other small pockets which were occupied by the violators were cleared to further reduce traffic congestion and jams which occurred due to these unauthorised encroachments. “We have received a large number of complaints from residents to clear green belts and the GMDA will do its best to resolve such issues,” Batth added.
