Governor Dattatraya urges youth to focus on job creation
Haryana Governor and Kurukshetra University Chancellor Bandaru Dattatraya urged the state’s youth to focus on creating jobs rather than seeking employment. His remarks came during the inauguration of the two-day National Conclave 2025 on “Transforming Teacher Education towards Viksit Bharat 2047” at Kurukshetra University on Monday. The event was organised jointly by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the Haryana State Higher Education Council (HSHEC), and Kurukshetra University.
Governor Dattatraya highlighted the role of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in transforming the country. He said the policy would ignite a new consciousness and revolution, playing a crucial part in India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
He also underscored the role teachers play, not only as knowledge providers but also as character builders. Teachers, he said, shape students’ futures, guide their thoughts, and inspire a spirit of innovation and service.
Dattatraya commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for championing the NEP 2020, which aims to make education inclusive, multi-disciplinary, high-quality and globally competitive.
The NCTE Chairperson, Prof Pankaj Arora, said desired learning outcomes could only be achieved through innovation, collaboration and dedication. He explained the third National Conference, organised at Kurukshetra University, aligned with the vision of making India a developed nation by 2047, stressing the need for the rapid nationwide implementation of NEP 2020 to produce high-quality teachers.
The Chairperson of the Haryana State Higher Education Council, Prof Kailash Chander Sharma, outlined the NEP 2020’s goals to nurture self-reliant, creative and rational youth, emphasising the significance of the four-year ITEP programme in preparing teachers and bridging the skills gap.
The Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor, Prof Som Nath Sachdeva, noted the potential of India’s youth. He explained how NEP 2020 addresses problems such as unemployment, skill shortages and character development.
Prof Sachdeva also shared the university’s achievements, including the implementation of NEP provisions in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as well as its A++ grade recognition by NAAC.
The conclave began with a tribute to Dr Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, the architect of the NEP 2020. The conference also saw participation from several prominent personalities in the education sector.
