Governor names three to KU executive council

Kurukshetra: Haryana Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya, who is also the Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, has named three nominees on the executive council of Kurukshetra University for a term of two years. As per the notification, Prof Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University; Prof Sikander Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh University; and Prof Monika Verma, Department of Physical Education, Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa; have been nominated on the executive council of Kurukshetra University. Monika is a daughter of late Prof KK Verma, first Vice-Chancellor of LNIPE, Gwalior, India’s first sports university. She has been conferred the Shiksha Rattan award. TNS

Job fairs need of the hour, says Transport Minister

Chandigarh: Haryana Transport, Skill Development and Industrial Training Minister Mool Chand Sharma has said that in this competitive era, organising job fairs is the need of the hour for students. The minister was addressing the youth after inaugurating a two-day Ambala division placement fair being held at Government College, Sector 1, Panchkula, near here. The minister informed that Shri Vishwakarma Skill University had been established in Palwal by the government at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore. TNS

Man in train nabbed with Rs 44 lakh in cash

Hisar: The Government Railway Police (GRP) caught a person with Rs 44 lakh cash, about seven ‘tolas’ of gold and 100 gm of silver from Kisan Express near Hansi railway station during a surprise check in the train on Tuesday. The police handed over the matter to the Income Tax Department in Rohtak for further investigation. GRP SHO Pradeep Kumar said that they have arrested a Sirsa-based man Vinod Kumar. The accused failed to reveal the source of the cash and valuables. The man, cash and valuables have been handed over the IT Department,” Pradeep Kumar added. TNS
