Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Choudhry informed the Vidhan Sabha today that the current submerged area in Haryana stands at 30,315 acres, as recorded on August 21. To drain out the accumulated water, 1,452 pumps with a combined capacity of 7,684 cusecs have been deployed, and the likely clearance date has been set as August 31.

Replying to a calling attention motion moved by INLD MLA Arjun Chautala, Choudhry said, “The government has announced that the e-Kshatipurti portal will remain open till August 31, 2025, to facilitate flood-affected farmers of 188 villages across seven districts — Hisar, Bhiwani, Rohtak, Palwal, Charkhi Dadri, Rewari and Sirsa — to register claims for crop damage caused by recent flood/standing water, heavy rain, etc. District revenue officials will conduct verification of claims as a special girdawari, and compensation will be released as per norms.”

Providing district-wise details, the Minister said Rohtak has 9,724 acres submerged across 71 villages with depths of 0.6-2 feet. About 250 pumps with a capacity of 977 cusecs have been deployed and the area is expected to be cleared by August 30.

In Bhiwani, 9,425 acres across 31 villages were reported submerged. “As on August 21, 3,965 acres in 27 villages remained under water with depths of 1-2.5 feet. For dewatering, 218 pumps of 1,187 cusecs capacity have been deployed and clearance is likely by August 30,” Choudhry said.

She added that Hisar received 265.4 mm rainfall this monsoon, 21% higher than average, leading to submergence of about 2,032 acres in 34 villages. “The excess rain, coupled with heavy intermittent showers in August 2025, resulted in submergence…79 pumping units were deployed in affected areas,” she told the House.

In Nuh district, 4,105 acres across 53 villages are under water. “Dewatering of the area is being carried out by deploying 29 diesel pump sets, 23 electrical pump sets, 10 vertical pump sets, and JCB/poclain machines at affected locations,” the Minister said.

However, Nuh MLA Aftab Ahmed contested the figures. “The reply of the Minister is far from reality as the waterlogged area in Nuh is around 7,000 acres and hardly any effort is being made to clear the areas. There is no concern whatsoever,” he said.

On rainfall patterns, Choudhry said the state received 342.8 mm rainfall against the normal 311.2 mm between June 1 and now — 10% above average. Mahendragarh (89% above normal) and Jhajjar (70%) topped the list of excess rainfall. Other districts reporting higher-than-normal rain include Yamunanagar (24%), Sonepat (4%), Rohtak (36%), Rewari (43%), Panipat (13%), Palwal (24%), Nuh (62%), Kurukshetra (58%), Hisar (21%), Gurugram (16%), Charkhi Dadri (32%) and Faridabad (5%).
