Govt backtracking on promises, playing with livelihoods of youth, says Hooda
Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has accused the BJP of reneging on its promises to unemployed youth, stating that the government, which came to power pledging 2 lakh permanent jobs, is not even conducting the Common Eligibility Test (CET).
“Lakhs of unemployed youth are becoming over-age, waiting for recruitments and are continuously waiting for CET and new recruitments. But as usual, the government is giving dates after dates,” Hooda said in a statement issued here today after paying tribute to Prakash Chander Batra on his death anniversary. Prakash Chander, the late father of former Home Minister Subhash Batra, had served as first chairperson of Rohtak Municipal Committee.
Hooda criticised the BJP for failing to fulfil its promise of regularising 1.20 lakh employees working under Haryana Kaushal Rojgar Nigam. “But, now going back on its own promise, BJP started firing Kaushal Nigam employees as soon as the government was formed. One by one, the government has started retrenching Kaushal Nigam employees from every department. The employees who are surviving on temporary jobs and minimum wages are now facing a livelihood crisis,” he claimed.
The former CM also alleged the BJP was unfairly treating 16,000 employees working under the National Health Mission. “The government has also stopped the decision to give them a salary hike and other benefits. One by one, the BJP is targeting all sections of society. This makes it clear that BJP makes false promises only to win elections, it has nothing to do with public welfare," Hooda said.
Hooda’s statement reflects growing discontent over the BJP government’s perceived inaction on employment and alleged rollbacks of promises made before the elections.
