The Haryana Government has announced paid leave/special casual leave on November 30 for employees working in government offices, educational institutions, boards and corporations in the state who are registered voters in Delhi, in view of the byelections scheduled in 12 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
A notification to this effect has been issued by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi.
The leave has been granted under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, and Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
The government has also clarified that employees working in factories, shops and private establishments in Haryana — who are registered as Delhi voters — will similarly be entitled to paid leave under Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, enabling all eligible individuals to cast their votes without inconvenience.
